7 Of The Most Important Travel Tips

Tip No. 1: Remember to bring your passport and guard your passport like a baby

Rule number one of travel has always been: No passport, no travel. One way to protect your passport is with a waterproof passport wallet. During the times you are travelling to a destination, keep your passport as close to you as possible.

Once you are at your accommodation ensure your passport is secure by locking it up in your bag, locker or safe. When you are out exploring a new place leave your passport at the place you are staying. Keep a photocopied version of your passport and/or driver's license as your forms of ID.

Tip No. 2: Keep an electronic copy of your passport, flight ticket and travel insurance

This can be done using a cloud storage program like Dropbox, Google Drive or by simply emailing yourself.

Tip No. 3: Research if you need a visa and understand the conditions of the visa

Know when the expiry date is and the restrictions of the visa: can you leave and come back as many times as you want.

Tip No. 4: Record details of your country's embassy in the travel destination

This will be handy in stressful situations of losing your passport or if you get in trouble with the local authorities (been there and done that).

Tip No. 5: Double check and triple check the date, time and location of your flight

Missing a flight is not something you want to experience.

Tip No. 6: Buy travel insurance

You will have peace of mind to know that you have something to fall back on, should an unfortunate event occur. Not sure if there is an insurance cover for when a bull rides its horn up your ass.

Tip No. 7: Get the required vaccinations and medications

No one has the time or patience to be sick during their travels.
